How a launch works, step by step
From a URL to a worked plan, a launch runs in a few clear stages. Here is the whole sequence, so you know what happens at each step and what is being asked of you.
Last updated June 22, 2026A launch is the paid heart of Nilkick. It turns your product into a worked plan: the right venues, a draft for each, and a clear path to shipping them. The whole thing runs in a few stages.
01 · Start1. You start the launch
You point Nilkick at your product URL and pick the markets you care about. Starting a launch spends one launch credit. From here, the work is Nilkick’s for a moment, then yours for the rest. There is a separate guide on starting a launch that covers the form in detail.
02 · Build2. Nilkick builds the plan
Nilkick studies your product in depth: it reads your site closely, works out what the product is and who it is for, and ranks the venues where that audience actually gathers. Then it drafts a post for each venue, written to fit that venue rather than copied across all of them.
This takes a short while. You will see the plan status move from building to ready. If something goes wrong during the build, the launch shows an error with a Retry button, and retrying re-runs the same job.
03 · Work3. You work the plan
Once the plan is ready, you land in the workspace: a value-sorted list of venues to post to. For each one you review the draft, edit anything you want, and then post it yourself. You can skip a venue, reorder the list, and come back later. Nilkick marks each move done as you go. The full mechanics are in Working your plan.
04 · Reddit4. Reddit runs on its own track
Reddit is handled in its own workflow, because it has rules the others do not. Before you post, Nilkick checks your account standing and adapts what it offers you. See the Reddit guides for how that works.
05 · Finish5. You track progress to done
As you ship, a progress view keeps count of what is done, what you skipped, and what is left. When you have worked the whole plan, you can review everything you shipped or start a launch for another product.
A launch is not a countdown. You can work the plan in one sitting or over several days. Nothing expires mid-launch, and your place is saved between visits.
